Hi all
I'm very new to IR photography I've stuck a hoya R72 lens infront of my a700 and no matter what I do the pictures I take always turns out red, I've tried playing with the CWB on the camera and pointed it and everything I can think of, but hte pictures always turns out red. I want to be able to do something like this, but becuase my picture always comes out red, I can't seem to be able to tweet it in GIMP to be like it. ![]() |

Tell us how you set your camera custom WB for IR in the first place.

I point my camera at the grass with out the IR lens on to get focus.
Then I put then lens on and and go into custom, set and then it takes a 30 sec picture. I then use that setting to take a picture of the sky. |

just aim at a patch of foliage under the same lighting, fill the whole frame (for Sony, just the center will do), take a custom balance with filter on. anyway, I just Google how to set custom WB on A700, so after you take the patch of foliage, follow the instruction and select the photo you took as referance. hope this help. |

Yup Figured it out, it wasn't saving the settings.
It's saving it now and I'm getting some really good shots, almost like the ones above, but for some reason all the trees are green? and not white? but the shkys and buildings are coming out like the pictures above. Do I need to add a UV filter or something? or am I get the CWB wrong and I should point it at something else? P.s. get GIMP, it's awesome and free! |

Been having the same problem and I think I have the same experience as Cabbage (everything comes out red). Yep, I wasn't saving the WB settings either. Going to try again...
I did not mod my camera (Panasonic G1) so have been trying to figure if not removing the filter has been the problem (I can see the light on my tv remote control though). Thanks for this thread |
