Default Need some clarification

Hi,I have a Nikon D60 and I am planning to get a IR filter for it , just wondering how long do I usually need to expose for a shot at a normal sunny day? I have heard the exposure time is very long but I need clarification of about how long it usually takes.

IR without a mod camera is long exposure, usually f8, anywhere between 15~45sec depend on the scene. You definably need to use tripod.

best way to confirm correct exposure is judging from the histogram after you took the shot.
