They should have an extension, for the convinence of all students. Since indonesia got added to the list yesterday, everyone who went to indonesia must quarintine 1 week.

I heard that one secondary school had all its teaching staff sent to batham for a course, only the principle did not go. So when school reopens, there will be no teachers there yeah?

Extension is a short term solution.

What happens if situation doesn't improve in a week's time? Extend again? Again and Again?

more and more countries will definitely be added to the list......

if after countless extension, suddenly if countries like msia is under the list *TOUCHWOOD*.. then those msian students who travel back n forth to come to singapore schools cannot go to school? extension doesnt really solve anything. students may not stay at home, they may go places like clubs (eg butter factory case) get the illness and then go back to school the following week. i mean, we all won't know what would happen....

extensions = MOE's way of making parents stop calling them and asking if their precious son will die from H1N1. coz nobody listens when they tell them that "excuse me Mrs Tan, but your son is more likely to die from the normal Type A Influenza."

    I swear. nobody does.

Sooner or later still have to go back to school.

But it seems that people are getting paranoid over N1H1. Come on, flash back 6 years ago, remember SARS? Which is more deadly?

Life moves on. No point scaring yourself.

Extension is but an excuse for the parents to feel more comforted.
But it's nothing but sheer pain and hard work for the school teachers and staff to ensure that their students comply with e-learning, not to mention catching up later, with whatever that cannot be done through online method.
Medically I don't think it makes much of a difference as community spread is already taking place at a rate faster than our hospitals can handle (my opinion). The amount of contact from public places and public transport is no less than from school contacts.
H1N1 is just a part of life that all will need to accept. like Avian flu, SARS, HIV, ERP etc etc.
