From what I see, first he asked for full name and address. Later, sure will ask for contact number, and so on. And this information is useful for other crimes.

I have heard of many people that were cheated, when somebody called their home informing one of their relative got an very serious injuries from an accident and they needed to transfer some money to deposit in the hospital before A&E would allow him to be admitted, etc.
