Just got a battery grip for my 40D making my Lowepro TLZ-1 obselete, just wandering if theres a good bag out there (i prefer shoulder and the smallest as possible) to fit my 40d w/ grip?..Recommendations are highly appreciated. Thanks.

Hi, I am using Kata H-16. It can take my 40D with battery grip with my 70-200 f4 lens attached, plus 2 side pockets for an extra lens and a flash. Should also have extra space for extra filters and CF cards and batteries. Excellent build quality with very comfortable shoulder sling strap. Check Kata's website.

Thanks bro!!!If its Kata im afraid that its much more expensive than its Lowepro counterpart. Anyway ill check about the Kata, additional compartments/pockets is a big plus it might worth the extra buck!!
.thanks again |

Depends on what lens you have. There are toploaders from many brands that can hold your camera with the kit lens all the way to the 300mm ƒ/2.8L IS with flash.

why don't you pop down the friendly camera store (CP, OP, TK) for a hands on at the bags and decide what to buy? bring along your camera and lens so you know what can fit and what can't

For people using toploading bags and zoom lenses, do you think the way the camera is store will contribute to zoom creep that is so common in heavier zoom lenses such as 17-55 f2.8 or those L lenses? i.e. with camera pointing downward with lenses hanging in the air, will gravity going to pull the zoom lens downward and accelerate the zoom creep issue?

haven notice it on my 2470..what abt u CS?
I use a speed racer and even for my crumpler 7mil..it sort of also face down and hangs...haven seen any problem with this...is it more of a built issue of the lens rather than storage?

I had a 17-55 that get loose pretty fast (within 1 year) but I think the build of that lens is not L grade. Now I have the 24-105 for about 4 months and I have start noticing the zoom getting a bit loose again.
Perhaps it is just the way I use the lens that create this problem. Was wondering whether hanging the lens like that also contribute to the problem.

my toploader is TLZ-1 which is exact fit for my 70-300APO.since it is exact fit, the bottom of the lens is supported by the bottom of the bags so far its ok,so i think im gonna buy the exact fit to my longest lens....but indeed gravity is also a factor.. |

Sorry, didn't realized I am not in Canon section. Mine was the Canon EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS lens.

Can look at the top loader series from Lowepro. Think there are a couple of sizes, so bring your camera+lens down to see the size you need.
The biggest one shld be able to mount the 40D+70-200 f2.8 IS. If you mount a standard zoom like 17-55, maybe can put a 50mm f1.8/1.4 at the bottom as well. Can also consider the Lowepro Inverse series. Prob allows you to carry 1-2 lens more in a waistpouch/shoulder pouch bag I've never experienced zoom creep on my old 17-55 though |
