Default Thinking of getting a FujiS2 Pro... :)

Hi there, I'm thinking of getting a fuji S2 Pro, and have some Qn for existing users of the camera:

- How are the noise levels at higher ISO speeds, eg ISO400 and 800? Are the pictures printable? (dpreview seems to suggest that The S2 Pro's noise levels are better than most DSLRs...)
- What wide angle lenses are there available for the camera?
- I have a Tamron 24-135mm nikon mount lens.. which should be usable right?
- I have this flash: Metz mecablitz 34 AF-3N, does anyone know if it's compatible?

TIA

even ISO1600 is very usable!

as for lenses, watever lenses Nikon bodies can use, the S2 can..
same goes for the flash..
if ur metz flash can be used on ur current nikon body, then it can be used on the S2.. i'm using a Sigma flash.

so dun think.... JUZ BUY BUY BUY!!!!!!

Dear Kree

I can understand your concern as buying a digital SLR is a big decision.

-How are the noise levels at higher ISO speeds, eg ISO400 and 800? Are the pictures printable? (dpreview seems to suggest that The S2 Pro's noise levels are better than most DSLRs...)
Pictures taken on ISO 400 is very printable.
I have printed images on 400 and even 1600 and the quality is very acceptable. Comparable to film, I might add.
I am happy with the output from the camera.
- What wide angle lenses are there available for the camera?
All Nikon and Nikon mount lens can be used on this camera.
If I am not mistaken, you can also use the older manual focusing lense as well.
However, you will not able to use the matrix metering on the camera.
- I have a Tamron 24-135mm nikon mount lens.. which should be usable right?
Is this an AF lens. Yes
If its manual focus - Yes (but no matrix metering)
- I have this flash: Metz mecablitz 34 AF-3N, does anyone know if it's compatible?
Don’t have an answer to this – but if you are shooting on auto mode on the flash - yes. I am assuming that the adapter you are using on this flash is for a Nikon camera.
As for the ability of use it in TTL mode, I am not able to advise you.
Hope this answers your questions.
Bye the way, what is holding you back from buying the camera.

Cheers

If you are planning to get a brand new s2Pro, I understand there is no more stock left in Singapore.

Besides 2nd hand, does anyone have any idea whether they can get from elsewhere?

Sorry to barge in.

Will the S2pro meter at all with manual foucs lens ? I understand that the D100 will not meter at all when manual lens are attached. I could easily live with matrix metering - some metering would be prefered over shoot see and adjust.

You are right.
My mistake - I checked my S2 manual and there are no metering.

My apologies for the confusion

Oh dear!
I had no idea that there were no stocks for the S2.
I have a feeling that something is up.
Maybe (and dont quote me on this) but maybe Fuji is planning a launch a S3.

I understand that PMA (photo marketing association) 2004 is held in Feb in Vegas next year. All major camera manufacturers will showcase their latest wares at this event.

I am anxious to see what Fuji is announcing.
So my recommendation to you is that if you can sit tight and wait. it could be worth your while

Cheers

unlikely the s2's sucessor will be based on nikon mount as fujifilm helps developed the two-thirds system...

Hey Kree,

I gotta a S2 with the Tamron 24-135 SP AF which I constantly use as a general purpose lens and shoot at ISO 400. They made for each other!

Happy hunting
