Get a model that uses S-IPS panel or atleast MVA/PVA panel. Avoid the ones with the TN panel since color reproduction and viewing angles are poorer on those.
I saw a Philips 24" S-IPS monitor for only about SG$740 at Sim Lim last weekend, but the drawback was that it had only 2 inputs- DVI and VGA. No HDMI or component. If you can live with this, it might be worth checking out.

Alternatively, you can pay less than half the price and get a 22 inch model from Dell. Also an IPS panel, without the bells and whistles ...

apple LCD r pretty good. And very accurate color rendition. ITs HIPS LCD tech. Any of their laptops also give very good and accurate color.

Assuming u need a big screen, u can consider the Dell Ultrasharp series.
Currently, there's only 27" and 30". I would say its a fair price for the quality given by Dell.

The ultrasharp 24" 2408 is listed under the Small Business section on the Dell SG website, and not the usual Home section, IIRC.

whatever it is, make sure you know the exchange policy for dead pixels and so on. Most manufacturers call it a result of the manufacture process and therefore not a defect.
