Hi all,
Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced macro lens with acceptable performance? My birthday is coming soon, so I wanna make use of this once a year affair to slaughter my mum! ![]() |

Wow...didn't expect it to be so expensive! Most likely will go for 2nd hand then. Hehe...me not so mean ok? I'll pay half & make my mum pay for the other half ![]() Between these 2 lenses, which is a better value for money? |

Hold on to your money and look for a minolta 100 f2.8 macro lens. 2nd hand probably S$600+ only

If you can't find the Minolta 2nd hand lens, the Sigma is pretty ok. I'm using it for my nature photography course. Of course, if you are very serious in it, the original lenses is better. I paid $550 or so for the Sigma early this year.

But seriously, the Minolta 100mm f/2.8 macro is a excellent piece of glass. However I didn't use it much as I don't shoot much macro and prefer the 135 f/2.8 for general use. If you can find it 2nd hand it would probably be your best choice. Also, depending on the subject you intend to take, the 180/200mm lens or 50mm can be good choice too. |

Do you have a 77mm lens? If you do, why not get a Canon 500D marco lens attachment to attach it onto your existing lens to make it a marco len?
