Panasonic LX-3 or Canon G10?

Hi All,
I am a beginner user of Nikon D60 with 2 other lens. Now I'm planning to get a compact dslr. I couldn't make up decision whether should I buy LX-3 or G10. I have seen review for both camera but still in dilemma.
Please advise me. Or may be any other alternative to this..

depends on what zoom range you need. the lx3 has very limited zoom range but a very bright f2.0-2.8 lens. its supposed to be one of the sharpest compact cameras around too.
the image quality of the g10 probably wont be as good but it has a wider zoom range and manual controls too. hope that helped

Hi,

I was in a similar situation when choosing LX3 or G10. Both are wonderful cameras but each comes with push and pull factors.

My personal 2 cents findings for both cameras are:

G10 - Ideal for landscape shots

(+) Vivid colours in shots taken
(+) Longer zoom
(-) "No" wide angle
(-) Heavier as compared to LX3


LX3 - Ideal for indoor shots

(+) Wide angle at 24mm. A plus point for this.
(+) Compact size. Ease the pocket.
(+) Perform better in low light. Fast focus.
(-) Shorter zoom as compared to G10
(-) Colours of photo are not as rich to G10 in my opinion.

For me. I will get LX3 as a general PnS camera.

Thanks coolin for your advise...I don't need a zoom lens as I'm using D60 with tamro 18-270mm. This is just a backup and I"m buying it for my wife use cause she does not want to carry bulky camera.

thanks a lot...now I have better idea of both negative and positive factor of the camera. I wanted to buy this camera mostly for indoor and close-up photo. I also do not need any zoom too. I think LX3 will be an ideal for my wife. Any idea what's the market price?

my mom just got it at cathay photo for 715 if im not wrong. including a pouch , screen protector and 8gb sdhc card. better call up to ask if they have any sets first because they always seem to be sold out!

Hi coolin..thanks for your quick reply. Yeah let me check with them. May be need to check with other shops too..What about the IT show? Will there be more cheaper?
