Default New to photography, choosing a good camera to start

Hello people. I'm pretty new to photography and wants to start off with a compact digital camera. I have no idea which of the cameras best suits me and I need some help here.

I need a camera thats relatively good. Budget up to about S$700? If you would ask me, I'd be taking more of "people" than of "landscape" (but something all rounder would be best).

Also I'd like to have a compact camera with manual functions that I can play with apart from the auto function.

The cameras that I have been considering are fuji f200exr, lumix LX3, Lumix DMC TZ7 and canon G10. But if there are other options that you think would better suit me, please let me know too! =)

I need advice badly. The IT fair is here and I'd love to get my hands on a camera at the fair.

Thanks in advance and good day to you ahead.
