My verdict in the Auto test is yes, DLUX-4 is 10% better in the following areas than LX3.
- better dynamic range - sharper lens. - lens coat is more purple But packaging, Leica offers more warranty, software tool. I won't comment on the case as leather case can be purchase for both models. 3 non camera craze colleagues happen to come in contact with both camera. Without any influence words, all were holding the Leica with more interest than the LX3. Thus perceptively, Leica is worth the value for its brand if you are willing to pay more. The lx3 recently has a new firmware upgrade to adjust AWB. Did you do this upgrade? This is in cam jpg right? You should test RAW as well.

Yes, firmware is the latest and both are direct jpg at max quality.
This comparison is not intended to be technical (many review blogs has that info). My colleague and me have no intention to use raw at all. But when I hold the leica, it does feel better with that red dot. ![]() |

what I understand is that the lenses are the same, and hence should have the same sharpness (within individual variance) but the coating is different, the internal processing is different, and hence a very different output (especially JPEG). I was told by a L owner that it has much better colour rendition.
