Question Modification of camera sensor

I was wondering whether the modification of sensor for IR photography, can it be done to compact digi cams?

Mostly, how much does it costs and where can I do it?

Thanks.

No-one modifies a sensor. The only mod. which makes sense is to remove the filter in front of the sensor. That has been done by quite a few people already.

Some less expensive compact cameras have the IR blocking filter over the sensor fused or glued in place which makes it difficult to replace but I shoot with a converted point and shoot camera. It was done for me in the United States. Not sure where you would need to go but it can be done in most cases. Some people/ places only convert certain cameras.
