    I've no experience but I know that the food stylist will place & craft every single element on the plate. eg in laksa, where the prawn is facing, taupok size, how much oil on surface, whip the ugly oil stains ard inside of the bowl,etc..

    Or for steak, I've seen them use a heated skewer to 'draw' the criss cross lines usually seen when steak is grilled..nothing is left to chance. The burnt parts are 'painted' by blowtorch as well.

    I'm sure there will be more experienced people here to share more.
    If say the chicken chop, the rice grain in the center, burnt end of fries, that lone fries,etc already totally cannot.

    If you're interested in food photography can look into this art form as well.
    How I wish someone on CS can show how they do it, really an eye opener..
