Default LR2 Catalog

how do you guys determine when to start a new catalog? For the past few months since using LR2, i've just been using the same catalog.

any reason to start a new one? LR2 does an integrity test weekly. does having a too huge catalog compromise on integrity?

Is the old catalog worn out already? Mine is still nice as new, running well with >10k photos inside.
The integrity test is a precaution to prevent data corruption. The catalog is a database (SQLite), every database needs such checks now and then. Large catalogs (>100k images?) can slow down LR, but before jumping to any conclusions you can still run the catalog optimization.
