Airport: About 2hrs 15mins or more (unless no jam inside city & depending how fierce your driver willing go on outside country road. LOL!).

If you are staying in Ubud: About 1hrs 10mins.

I was there 3 week ago and based in Ubud to shoot and leave just before the "so called peak season in Bali now" I'm a cheap traveller that flew budget and staying at "homestay" for S$25/- plus breakfast and hot shower (you will not get this price during peak).

P/s To dog lovers, please don't play with all the street dogs meanwhile!

    Cheers!

Lake Bratan from Airport is about 60-70km...
And if in mid-day, I think average speed is no more than 40km/h
So... 1.5-2hours is a safe bet, though some 'hell-riders' might be faster!

but you've been to Bali before... Not to Bratan?

i won an accom/flight to bali of which 2 nite will be spent in the villa in ulu watu.
i have another 2 nite that i can spend elsewhere.

the last time i visit, i covered south, southeast to purah tanah lot, southwest to tenganan, and north to ubud.

i prefer to cover new places that have
    - a lot of locals
    - hopefully almost no tourist
    - cool temperature.

not decided yet. looking around at options.

I found danau bratan to be an average experience ... it's really very crowded

Talk about commercialism, there's a group of photographers there who help you take photos for a fee
I must say it's a good piece of marketing - all of them are sponsored by Canon; wearing bright red photog vest with the logo emblazoned front and back, armed with Canon equipment and Selphy printers by the side.

you can check out the link that I posted in this thread, which Estherfu recently quoted.

I rented Toyota Avanza w driver, but I do believe they have self-drive rentals as well.
The driver was useful in places like Ubud, coz he could drop us near where we wanted to go, then pick us up again later. So... up to you.

Didn't know it has become so commercialized now! Maybe it's peak season for tourist arrivals?
Last I was there it was off-peak season i think.
Of course, off-peak season also coincided with not-so-nice weather for photography

I am planning a trip to Bali too. Thinking of spending 1 whole week there. Got free air ticket to Bali but must redeem by Sept.

Can anyone kindly share the itinerary, hotel to stay, places to shoot, and maybe the budget as well.

I am going there to relax at beach, massage and shoot.
    Would like to shoot:
    - Beach
    - Sun rise
    - Sun Set
    - Anything else that are nice

Can advise what is the power plug they use there?

    Thinking of bringing:
    - Tripod
    - 11-16
    - 70-200 or 18-200 or 17-55

Just read through this thread for some ideas. No point to re-write the same stuff.
Also look for land/cityscape threads on Bali, for 'inspiration'

Power supply... hmmmm suddenly I seem to have forgotten. I think it's the 2 round pins (like we have in Singapore), 220V~

The power plug is two round pins. Places to shoot is mentioned throughout this thread. Take some time to see which interests you.

For hotel, Tanaya Bed & Breakfast which is along the main road in Legian, is clean and new.

    i thought kuta facing southwest?

my experience at sanur which faces east is pleasant for sunrise. there are also boats leaving for the other islands in the morning.

Since Kuta is at the 'neck' of Bali island, where east coast and west coast are but kilometres apart, it certainly is possible to be at the beach, within Kuta's vicinity, to see sunrise

i'm sure there are, just that I have not had any experience booking such villas... How many people in your travelling party, by the way? Perhaps I can ask some of my friends. I remember them mentioning staying at villas.

I went to the one which my driver stopped us at. Obviously he got a free meal from them for bringing us there... but I'm not too fussed about it... The food was good. Can't remember the name... sorry!
