Libec - Cheaper and smoother than Manfrotto. Better design too I feel.

Starting from LS38 which are true fluid heads unlike the Manfrotto 50x series.

Can't remember but it was something just under $1k. I think the price has gone down a bit since then. You can check with Edward at expandore.biz

newer models are expensive....so go for older ones.

All you need is a smooth video head. To me heavy duty means can use just about anywhere in just about anything and still can bring back.

A good video tripod must resist twisting. You wouldn't want your panning shots to spring back (i.e. tripod untwist) at the end of your pan.
Single-rod tripods usually won't make the cut for heavy cams tat uses video head with high drags in such a case.

I saw these Secced ARES tripods at Braodcast Asia yesterday, at the Medios stand. They are super-smooth, like Sachtler, but much cheaper (made in China I think). I am considering getting the ARES1 for my XH-A1, it is around S$900.
