My Duracell batt lasted 1 year+ and still is going strong. That is after cheonging sipadan last year all the way thru the night dives in Bali this year.

After a while, I wished I had something lighter like that Toshiba Hammerhead torch light. 4pcs D cell.
Well, you could use the UK D4 instead

Yup D8 at around $110 or so is very sufficient for the job.
But the weight and the cost of the battery is a little prohibitive......

BTW, I use the UK 1200 which is a older version of the D8.

There's a problem with the UK C8 and C4. Better not to buy if possible.

Firstly, the O-rings dun seat perfectly, so must be extra careful. Seen lots of CXs leaked before.

Secondly, it can only use duracell batteries. had alot of problem finding duracell batteries until I found them at mustafa. You will be surprised that these C size duracell babies are are to find, unlike energizer.

beach road.

never got to try the LED underwater.. was thinkin of using it as a strobe :P
Think he was quoting you the UK C8, halogen torch. It's around this pricing.

LED underwater was a strobe? cannot really work well, coz you cannot control the intensity of the light. that's the only problem..

not sure about D8/D4.
duracell, coz the backside of the batt protrudes.
energizer doesn't, so it does not make contact.

When you buy the torch, it all comes with duracell only, if you notice.
thus, a desgin flaw

Odd..... I used to use Energizer on the UK 1200 before, unusually that they go back in time...........

What about panasonic, sanyo, and other batteries, ever tried?

This i beg to differ.

My fren from HK actually uses their Light Cannon, in lieu of the strobe - as a pointer and main source of light.

There is a customed made piece of diffuser to reduce the hot spot issue. Also that flexi arm used, enables him to adjust the shadows effect. Too bright, use Av / Tv settings to control that.

Yes, at times, on the wide angle shot there are some small rings at the edges. But that is about it. We are on macro most of the time.

Photos were very nice.....

I did use the Singapore made Energizer D. On my old UK1200, it doesn't last as long as the Duracell.

Duracell hard to find ? At the ABC shops and sometimes at the pasar malams.
$2.9 - 3.6 per pair.

Fakes ? - this is the real stuff, the price and the packing is refindedly Made in USA. "Geniuine" fakes ?

I dunno, it hasn't give up on me yet.

that is what I said last year, on the similar offer. Next thing I know, I have to wait for a year before this offer pops up.

Orh.... moderator-elect speaks, must listen hor....

Nitrox..... yes, I will have to jump the gun and take my theory lessons next week. As for the dives, TBA or may be 13th Dec. I am planning a trip to KL or Cameron Highlands or something on the weekend....
