G3 Av mode and AF-Assist questions

Hi all,

I have a few questions regqrding Canon G3.

1) When using flash in Av mode, it will automatically lock the shutter speed to 1/60 irregardless of the aperture set? This is quite different from EOS Slr cam.

2) How do you switch off the AF-Assist lamp (the white lamp). I tried turning it off from the menu, but the lamp is still turned ON??

3) Usage of G3 is similar to an EOS slr rite?? E.g. in Manual mode, I set f/5.6 aperture and 1/60 sec shutter speed.... with bounced/diffused flash.. should be OK rite?

Please advice.
