Default Cokin P007

I'm a newbie to IR photography so I'm quite curious about this!

Been checking the web trying to find cheap 77mm thread IR filter and realised a cheap way was to mod a Cokin P007 filter to fit into a conventional filter.

Went to CP and ask for a cokin P007, turned out that the piece offered is not the usual square filter but the round filter, much like those for polarisers.

Decided to buy it together with a wide angle filter holder and the adapter.

Is this a new version that Cokin came up with to solve the issue of light seeping from the sides?

Are you referring to the usual cokin filter holder?
e.g. when u can put slot in 3 filters ? (for both their square and round filters)

If I am correct, there is also some space in between the filter and lens front,
so light seep is still happening

But do try and let us know the result

Yes....tried today, light seep still happen in some of the photos...
The filter holder is the wide angle slim "P" Filter Holder, looking at it, it can only fit 2 filters.
Fitting in the round filter seems quite tight (see no gap in naked eyes), but since that slot is also used for polarizers filiter, I guess there is no way that it is gonna to be "seep proof".
It is also supposed to "reduce vignetting" (+20% angle), compared to the normal holder.
However on my Tokina 11-16mm, vignetting occurs at 11-12/13mm.

ah.. thanks for the informative posts! am currently sourcing around for something for my 10-22. Initially wanted to go for the tianya filters but saw some pictures of quite bad vignetting on them. was a bit "stuck" on what else to look out for till someone mentioned cokin (of course lee, but too expensive for me).

now is to check out the prices..

Nice information shared here. Sorry to butt in to this thread although it is relevant. Mind if I ask you where you buy your Cokin Filter holder and filters? I am using my Tokina 12-24 and will try to add this up.

Yeh, Nikon 12-24 is better for IR compared to Tokina.
