I find the pics are quite soft, and the background on the first pic is quite distracting too...

thanks for the comment, i too agree that the pics are quite soft, i also realised that the pics showed here, via ImageStation is a bit softer than the original:

True... If you are using CloseUp filters, your working distance is VERY short.. Maybe the object was not really in the DOF..

Also, you should try a smaller apperture.. I believe f4.5 is too shall a DOF..

Just my guess...
