Default Help on 40D

Hello peeps,

I got a recent problem with my 1.5 year old 40D. A black spot started appearing in all my shots! Tried cleaning and changing to different lenses but the spot is still there.
Don't think i wanna touch the optics inside the body cause i rarely leave it exposed for long.
Any ideas what to do or what happened? Or any recommendations on good servicing places?

Thanks in advance fellow Canonners..

Does the black spot also appear in your pics when you view them on your computer monitor? If it doesn't, then it's likely your LCD has a dead pixel or a few dead pixels.

Have you tried using a blower on the sensor? You should be able to set the sensor cleaning function in the menu. It'll flip up the mirror and allow you to use a blower. If you haven't, you could give that a try. If you need more instructions, consult the manual.

I second that. Flip up the mirror and try blowing the sensor with blower. Most of the time, it works.

You mean turn up the mirror with your fingers or use the mirror lock function to get the mechanism to do it for you?

Refer to page 131 of the 40D's manual. Here's an online version, http://www.the-digital-picture.com/O...40D-Manual.pdf

Go to Setup> Sensor cleaning> Clean manually. Ur mirror will flip up and the sensor is appeared.

Blow the dust and off the camera to make the mirror come down.

Thanks for all the helpful suggestions... (including the monk.. haha..)
The flipping of the mirror and the blower did the trick. Yey!! No more black spot.
And to think CSC is gonna charge me $21.40 for the same. heehehe..

Once again the fellow CSers to the rescue. Cheers.
