Default 3rd party batt grip

Can the expert out there comment on the use of 3rd party batt grip? Currently using 450D and the cost of original is more than double than the 3rd party.

Is the only way of purchasing the batt grip through online purchase? Are there shops where we can go to?

Not that I know of. No issue with purchases so far, in fact service quality is excellent.

Yupp.. get the phottix batt grip from reddotphoto.. they're really good in their customer service. You could arrange for pickup, so you can see the goods before dealing

The travor grip's review can be found here http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/re...ssage=32103415

something to add.
IMHO, for XXXD,XXXXD beginner or consumer dslr,
The pro side of 3 rd party BG are:
1) good for people with bigger hand. For my case this Travor BG(350D) its lovely to hold.
2)The build also queit nice. If i mounted with my 135L to it, its more stable compare than before, so if we have bigger lens other than the 18-55 kits, its recomment to get a BG.
3)The Vertical shoot feature also very practical.
4) cheaper than the original, so its cost effective.
5) Exchangable, if no good.

The cons 3rd party BG or batt
1)Qc problems, easy to get lemon set.
2) may cause problem to yr dslr, as some had claimed .

Hi...i'm using a 450D with a phottix batt grip. Bought it from the mass sales section.

My experience with the grip has been good. tried the BG of canon b4...to me...personally i find no difference between built quality

When u r getting the phottix batt grip...there's this "premium series" that u should get. Ard $100. I understrand there's a cheaper alternative in whh the built is not as gd.

Regarding whatever 3rd party batt/grip will shortcurcuit your camera and stuff....i personally classify it as urban legend or isolated incident. till now...i still see no thread in CS that says someone using a 3rd party BG has been short circuit-ed.

Just received my Grip for my 500D at 85. But its not the built in batt kind.
Haven really try out much yet. Feels cool, looks cool.
Let everyone know my review soon.

Hi guys, i bought a 2nd hand 450d with a phottix battery grip a couple of weeks back. I just tried to remove the battery grip, but the screw wheel is too tight! i couldnt get it to turn at all. Is this normal?! Any advise on how i can loosen the screw wheel and remove the battery grip??
