[Africa] trip advice / tips for Tanzania in January, 2010?

my girlfriend will be going on an exchange program, via some British organisation, for medical purposes. I was thinking of tagging along since I've never been to the African continent and thought Tanzania would be a nice place to check out since there's Zanzibar and its Stone Town, Mount Kilimanjaro and other interesting stuff.

anybody been there before? any recommendations in terms of accommodation, where to go, where NOT to go, etc?

your tips and advice is greatly appreciated.

you will find wildlife photographers : some of them have their website in english version. You can mail to them and ask for advices. Michel and Christine Denis-Huot are mainly specialists about Kenya but they can introduce you to Tanzania experts. I think that Alain Pons, Tony Crocetta and Christophe Courteau know about Tanzania.

thanks for the advice... I'll go check them forums out when I have a bit more time to horse around (given my current work load and illness).

however, does anybody here have any experience with this part of the world? or am I exploring bold new frontiers in the name of Singapore and Australia?
