Hi, all plan to get the following lens as I decided to remain a EF-S user.
So is it true i can get it at 1.2 to 1.3K since the price guide said so? And if i do, what filter would you recommend? Thanks in advanced ![]()

Most second hand ones are selling at that price range.
as for the filter, I suppose most would recommend you B+W..

You'll get recommendations for either B+W or Hoya - they're amongst the best you can find anyway. I have Hoya Super-HMC UV for all my lenses.

see this - $1515 (MS, Apr09) | $1600 (CP-M, Mar09) | $1599 (CP-P, Apr09)
its clearly stated on the price guide. always take the most recent prices by date. if there's no date, just ignore. |

haha you'll never know, and none of us will ever be sure. there's always this rumour here, and that hearsay there. but all we can really do is just wait and hope, or pray for a gd deal to be released in the BnS section ...

Your guess is as good as anyones. No one really knows if and when a price drop will occur.
If you can afford the lens now, don't think so much about the possibility of price fluctuations. It's a hobby to enjoy and not some life or death investment right? |

Your guess is as good as mine. 17-55 was about $1,500-1,600 in 2007. Then, in middle of 2008, Canon Singapore lowered their price and it went down to around $1,300-1,400. Then, early this year, Canon raise price on most of their lenses and it went back up to $1,500-$1,600 range.

if you're going to get it from B&S, wait til u can get a 'relatively' good deal..
some yahoos on B&S are selling their 17-55 for 1.2-1.3k, and this is without warranty.. meaning their lens are over a year old and they're really taking advantage of the price hike. i paid just over 1.3k for mine from another forumer here. including an original hood and hoya HMC pro1 filter. 10mths warranty remaining. |
