Hi,
Not true that a 2nd hand body is not good. It depends on what you want. D60 - Better built body. Higher end than 300D in terms of market segment. Slower AF, poorer performance under low light, heavier. 300D - Plastic, cheaper body, faster AF, Better under low light, can take EF-S lens, lighter, newer technology, since it's similar to 10D. |

I would buy a D60 as it is a better built body for the same price...
AF, low light all can be overcome: AF - Pre-focussing on target. Most of time in fact it is good to do. Low light - Use the 420EX or 550EX AF assist. |

It's really a tossup.
300D has some limitations that can drive some people crazy. Like the lack of a dedicated one-shot AF mode; it's permanently in AI focus. Like the lack of a flash compensation - again, can drive you nuts when you really need it. Advantage is that the 300D will come new, and certainly with warranty - peace of mind for a 1.5k+ investment. The price also won't be plummeting so soon. i think a 300D would suffice for most applications, unless your style/work demands some of the missing features. But if one is seriously considering the D60, maybe the 10D (used) would be a better choice. |
