Currently I am using SLIK U8000 for my S602z. Just wondering which tripod can go for Canon 300D, or SLIK U8000 just enough for 300D with standard kit?

The 300D is about the weight of a CP5700 + batt pack, adding a flash, frankly it's not stable. That's the reason I sold my U8000 off and got a manfrotto instead.
For the standard kit, the U8000 might be a bit too fragile and not sturdy enough. My advise to you is to get a stronger leg and a ballhead, down the road at least your setup will last a few changes (if any). |

I'm not familiar with SLIK tripods. I suppose 300D is a light camera and a compact tripod will do fine.
In practice, it also depends on the focal length you intend to use and how big you want to blow up the photos. (What's the longest focal length with 300D standard kit?) I use Manfrotto 190D with 352RC ballhead for my Nikon F90x. I'm definitely baised towards Manfrotto, not-so-expensive price, pro quality. ![]() (Manfrotto 190D - http://www.manfrotto.com/product/tem...d=2&itemid=770 ) |

![]() Oh, also consider models w/ Quick Release Plate. I 100% second epsn's philosophy. |

Thanks espn and johnyu,
since U8000 might not be stable, think I will get another one which is more solid. What is your recommendation? ![]() Johnyu, how much is your Manfrotto ? |

![]() Give CP a call. They should have it. (Reminder: Manfrotto tripods are usually priced/sold separately from the heads.) |

Note: The 190D is not light. However, I can't deny it's a good tripod.

Weight info obtained from dpreview.... Body plus battery and CF: 649 g (1.4 lb) Body plus battery,CF and 18-55 mm lens: 835 g (1.8 lb) The 300D + CF + kit lens, is less than 900g, perhaps throw in the grip and 2nd battery only less than 1.5kg. I think that's a weight that the U8000 can handle easily. |

- quick one-touch twist operation - strong enough for *my* gears at a reasonable price - quick release plate A couple of reminders when selecting ballheads: - Higher the max load the ballhead can take, more expensive it will be. For instance, If you're a heavy 400/2.8 user, look for the stronger ones; if you're not, the "mini" range can do. (I believe one can easily outgrow the smaller "micro" range.) - Grip-action heads are agile, but they can carry less weight, especially when you tilt it 90%. I don't see 352RC on Manfrotto's website anymore. It's replaced by 484RC2: http://www.manfrotto.com/product/tem...=8&itemid=1950 Good luck to your ballhead hunting. ![]() |

For best installment policy you may want to try Harvey Norman @ millenium..S$1999 with free 256MB Hagi CF card...can drag up to 24 months...
for outside shops they will charge additional percent and the repayment period would be shorter than 12 months...........

I went to Harvey Norman at Funan on Friday, only 1 300D left, and the price is SGD 1999, but no free 256MB Hagi CF ... Maybe I shall try @ millenium there. ![]() |
