Accidentally broke my 550EX mounting foot.
Anyone has any idea how much it would cost to replace it? Can TCW fix this and would it be cheaper than going to Canon? ![]() |

Cannot tighten the screw too tight. Canon charged me S$26 for the replacement. |

this is a common problem faced by 550ex users. that's why some ppl prefer hammerhead flash units.

OUCH. i will be careful then! thanks for highlighting this problem...
there's a little problem - if i dont turn the mounting screw real tight, there will be some shaking from the 550 - is that meant to be present in the first place or what?... |

Thanks Harlequin.
I think if you don't mount the 550EX tight enough, it might get loosen from the mount and fall off especially when you are moving around a lot. That's one fear I have if it's not tight as the 550EX is rather top heavy. Furthermore the pins may not be in proper contact and cause errors in your flash/camera communication. |
