    i am also confused why u choose this two models which are so different in class (semi-pro vs beginner) and price. u wanna share more on why u are confused?

    D5000 is Nikon newest Basic DSLR....

    50D is Canon newest Semi-Pro DSLR....

    For me... I would choose Canon 50D But its still up to YOU.

    If you have the $$, just go for Canon 50D, its a semi-pro at least.

    If you like nikon lens then go for it otherwise canon =) just kidding...

    both got their own pros and cons try out those 2 bodies first before making a purchase.

    Maybe TS confused 50D and 500D.
