Default Olive Backed Sunbirds feeding the youngs - 3rd batch

The very productive Olive Backed sunbird had their 3rd batch of chicks raised at the bamboo plant outside my balcony (Good Fong Sui!)

These were taken when chicks were about 7 day-old. They will probably fledge in another week's time. Thanks for viewing.

#1 Taken from inside my house.

#2 Taken from outside

Hi knpan and Micky

Thanks for dropping by.

knpan,
True, I was lucky to have them picking my balcony as their nesting ground.
Recently my condo was undergoing some re-painting work and I had to move the bamboo plant to one side. I was thinking that the birds might abandon their eggs because of that. Fortunately, they still came back. For the first time, mother bird could not find the plant, turned around and perched on a nearby tree branch for a while, then few seconds later, flew in to the nest at its new location about 6 feet away. With the repainting done, I have since moved the plant back to its original condition. It goes to show that they were the resilient lots!

Micky, I should have sent a note "sorry for any inconvenience caused" accompanied by some worms to my hotel guests for the relocation.. Ha ha...

Indeed. The birds were so used to me that sometimes the mother bird flew in with me standing about 6 inch next to the nest and continue to feed! The father bird was rather shy and would not approach the nest till I move away.

Cheers.

Hi Eric
Thanks for the kind words.
Next time if got chance, come over to take some yourself from outside... a bit inconvenient with passers by staring and the weather to deal with.

May be this Saturday still got chance? You wanna come? let me know.

Raymond

Hi Pearl,

The chicks both fledged the nest on Monday, exactly 16 day after hatching.
Indeed. Looking forward to the 4th.

Cheers!

Thanks Jason.
Unfortunately I have no time to venture further than my neighbourhood to land those cute birds you've got. Looking forward to more outings to Panti etc in future.

Cheers.
