Default Canon 450D malfunction.. 'backfires'

My canon 450D suddenly gave out a 'pop' sound when I press the shutter button. Along wf it was a spark of light that flashes from the button. Do you think I should switch on the camera to see if it still works b4 sending it to the agent? Need your feedback...

Do not touch anything or it may explode, quickly call the Bomb Disposal Unit from the SAF or SCDF.

Just kidding, bring it to CSC soonest possible and get them to check & fix it.

"Back blast clear!"

Yea, it should be covered under warranty since it's an electronic malfunction

better quickly go csc. the flash of light from the button might be a spark from the flash capacitor. especially because the capacitor sits just below the shutter button area.

I had the same experience but the pop happened due to a loose screw inside rattling around. I shook the camera while it was on and that when I heard the loud pop. Had CSC checked and it cost more to fix than to get a new one. So I got a new one instead. To TS, FWIW, it may still be worth it for you to have it fixed. Chances is one of the IC board is fried. Yours is a 450D, mine a 350D.

Not bad get a brand new camera. Take this chance to let Canon "upgrade" your camera to the 500D at special price!
