In my company, there are also work benches that do not have chairs - its the lab. But it is solely for safety reason.

This is an effective manufacturing process and once the employee is custom to it, their job will be eassier.

i was working in a Japaneses manufacturing before. the concept behind standing while working is to avoid sleepiness while working.

its effective but tiring at the end of the day.

understandable if this is manufacturing,
I was imagining like... instead of office people sitting at desks all day, they stand

I used to work in an aerospace company before. There are no chairs for the operators. The only time to rest on benches is during breaks. It is the company policy everyone should stay alert during working. Still remember sleeping during lunch at the drainage.

At work, because we are usually at the computer, the ergonomist encourages us to stand up often.

if it's really true, Canon products will be discontinued soon. not because any authorities or human rights group clamps them down, but because no one dares to work there anymore ... haha
