Wink Singapore Blooms at the Esplanade

The great show was otherwise marred by the horrible weather this entire week, was thinking of revisiting, but I doubt the weather will get any better. However, I tried to make the most out of the overcast conditions.

I like your second pic. I also took a look at your gallery and was especially taken with your Ixus V2 gallery - nice pics with just a simple PnS camera!

Thanks, of course PS has to be done to a certain degree on all pics. But basically just getting the colour and contrast right and the usual USM.

I just basically turned the Ixus to vivid mode and cloudy WB for most of the shots.

Good use of composition to make the most out of the situation. My favourite is the 2nd pic. However, did you try using artificial light(flash) to improve on the situation? One trick you could have tried would be to step down to f16 or f22 and then use flash with a 1/4000 or more shutter speed to eliminate the background and ambient light.(since its so dull anyway).

Also, you can consider using levels to give the images more punch but leave them in their natural colour.

Thanks, the 2nd pic is my favourite too. I used a fill in flash for all of the pics. I've tried adjusting levels to completely darken out the background for some of the pics, but I still prefer the original 'dirty green' feel. Thanks for the advice!

USM stands for unsharp mask. Despite the confusing name, its a sharpening tool in photoshop.
