I believe that it will be out somewhere towards the end of the year or early next year.

Canon already has all the necessary hardwares and softwares to make the 1D mk IV series.

The current 1D mk III and 1Ds mk III looked quite bad in terms of LCD screen resolutions compared to 50D, 500D and 5D mk II as well as Nikon D300, 700, D3 and D3x. Therefore, it is no prize guess that Canon has to launch a better 1D series. Of course, not just bec of LCD screen resolutions.

Precisely, I hate the LCD resolution.

It good is coming soooon.
AF issue been settle down, better LCD, it may have chance of 21 or 25 Mg pixel for 1.3 crop.
May digic V, good dynamic range in color contrast.
that will be good , once it available 1D MIII price will be in the way down.......

iirc, the efs lenses (not 1.6 crop lenses from other manufacturers) extend the lens elements closer to the sensor, and so the mirror will hit the lens when flipping, leading to ERR messages.

1DM3 AF tracking issue is still unresolved fully according to Rob Galbraith. So will 1DM4 inherit the predecessor's AF tracking genes

it wont be a full frame, canon is always an ass with protecting their higher up system. Plus some people would say that they need the extra 1.3 reach.

what is stopping canon from putting the mirror further away from the back of the ef-s lenses?
i am sure it can be done.
a full re-design will be in the works for the 1D mark 4.
They can't figure out what had went wrong with the Mark III, therefore they have to try something new or else will have the same problems unless the features are crippled.
I am tipping Full frame. Canon will have an arsenal of all there top of the range DSLR's full frame.
I think everyone will be surprised, Canon won't be sitting back. They want to win the market back that they lost.

without getting too technical, I'm sure it has to do with the flange focal distance ie. mount to sensor distance.. of cos if Canon didn't put that rubber gasket in EF-S lenses in the first place, then it would be a non-issue..

You trust this guy's review? I tried to replicate some of the issues he mention....and for me it did not happen the way he mention. May be he got a lemon?

Well, I read some rumors about new sensor technology....

That's the wrost part of it. Even the errors are eccentric and intermitten/varies with users and bodies.

There's a reason why you don't see Mk IIIs flooding the market after the self-proclaimed 'resolve'.
