Default 40D continuous shooting

Hi guys,

What does it take to achieve the advertised approx 75 continuous frames @ 6.5fps in Large Fine JPEG for a 40D? Any CF cards to recommend?

Currently, my 40D can only muster 6-7 shots @ 6.5fps in Large Fine JPEG before dropping to approx 2-3fps. This happens on both my Lexar Pro UDMA 300x CF (I think this is an overkill) and a Sandisk Ultra II CF. Pls help. Thanks!

Do you have the High IS Noise Reduction turned on? If so, try off-ing it.

Anyways having this function on will greatly slow down the burst rate on any Canon DSLRs.

Something is wrong with your camera memory buffer. If the spec said 75 frames @6.5fps, that means the camera buffer has at least that much internal memory to hold the no. of frames it advertised. If you have a slow CF card, the slowness will be felt when the camera try to write from the internal buffer to your CF card but it will still write the 75 frames although at a slower speed.

Clear all camera setting and custom functions. it will only shoot 75 shoots @ camera factory default setting.

they are indeed such a cheat.

i can only get 10++ frames @ 6.5 fps on large fine jpeg ... raw is worse! probably 5 or so... memory card has no effect on the fps, the memory card speed only affect the write/read time... the high speed burst images will all be stored in the camera's buffer. u switch to factory setting, select small normal quality jpeg... cfm can hit max speed

though nv really try before!

haha but come to think of it, how many people will shoot 75 frames at a go.

I do when I am photographing, IPSC Pistol Shooting events. Where I want to get the action of the gun and a little sequence of movement. I also use it as a training aid for shooters when they are experiencing problems with muzzle flip, and show them different sequences where they had the right grip and didnt.

When shooting in RAW most I get is 6FPS.

Cheers ....

as a hobbyist with a shallow pocket... i'm more afraid of the stress on the shutter though it's design to take this kind of stress... but... aiya... kia see
