From experience, best to get a ballhead with tension control although price cost more but worth the safety of your equipment as you may not want to risk it by a turn to release and ballhead loosen then yr lens on the camera knock to some parts of your tripod.

it is good enough
basically, if you haven't tried an expensive ballhead, don't bother, most ballheads not that easy to spoil if from good brands and your lenses are light. it is simple logic, once you get used to expensive stuff, you will recommend other people expensive stuff. manfrotto is already not cheap, to be honest. most photographers today are much too paranoid about their equipment. i would never be so gullible as to think that because i am paying 10 times more for a piece of external equipment, it means that i can take more risks with it. just as long as a tripod is not too cheap and rickety, it will do the job. there is a bare minimum standard that you should aim to get pass, but beyond that, you are paying exponentially for features and quality. if your budget is unlimited, then by all means, buy a gitzo, otherwise, just get something that does the job. at least you won't end up keeping the tripod at home like many people because "oh, my tripod is too precious to put in seawater", then no photos, no nothing, get tripod to exhibit at home in the storage cabinet. Get a better ballhead from the start. That way you will still be able to use it if you upgrade your equipment. Try to get at least the Manfrotto 488 RC2 since the 466 cannot do panning. If you have a bigger budget,go for the RRS, Markins or Arca-Swiss heads.
