Dear 40D users.
Do you experience the newly charged battery inserted in the 40D camera or in the bat grip. The battery indicator on top LCD in low bat condition. Even you try few time open up the battery and reinsert it again. Few time,it Indicate it Full Bat. Wow. Do it a normal for the 40D cam??????? ![]() |

Try cleaning the battery contacts? Does this happen with more than 1 of your batteries or is it specific to one? Can you get the same number of shots versus using another battery? If this is an old battery, perhaps it can no longer hold a charge? Original or OEM battery?

I seemed to recall this is a known problem with 40D but Canon has since update the firmware to resolve this problem. I think the version to fix this problem is 1.1.1.
I sold my 40D early this year so have not been keeping up with the news on 40D. |

Clean the contacts on your charger as well.
I was also fooled by the charger that it indicated full charge but it was not properly charging the battery. |

Hi im having this problem too. I had sent in my camera for checking and Canon changed my whole PCB board and when i put in my batteries, it was ok. Upgraded my firmware to 1.1.1 but after 1 day, i on my camera with battery again, it only showed 1 bar instead of full. So i took out the battery, wait for a while and put it in again, wait for some time, it showed full, i burst fire for one round, and it drops back to 1 bar. Off and on camera many times, still showing one bar. Changed another battery, same behavior. Now sending back to Canon to check again.... -___-
I think soon, users of 40D will start experiencing problems of this, maybe or im bias lol. I also experienced the body getting out of focus earlier. tested various lenses and bodies before concluding body sharpness problem.. These problems never occurs when newly bought. The make is no good?

My new battery wasn't used for sometime and after fully re-charged, it will go flat after a few shots. Someone told me if battery is left unused, they spoilt easily.
Buy new ones, no more issue. |

I'm try to clean the battery contact, rub with white eraser.
Contact it shine up. it still happen. For version 1.1.1 . it firmware mention is solve the low bat because of the EF 85- F1.2 lens. This is not only happen to my set. it happen to once of my friend 40D cam. He told me, how can the newly charged battery drained out the battery juice so fast. let 1 bar. Totally it very misleading, Hope canon can do something on it. Do wait till near End of life, then announce this a firmware settle this issue. like the 5D mirror drop off. this is the best...........It totally can on....... |
