Hi all,
Does this model come with... 1) lens cap 2) lens hood (a round plastic ring that attached to protect the lens)? Also any new replacement model round the corner yet? Thanks. |

Hi Kamweng, mine came with lens cap and lens hood and adapter and a few other bits and piece, had to buy a UV filter to protect the lens. I bought mine on internet, but my step-son bought his at Sim Lim and got all the same accessories.
Don't know anything about new models coming out soon, sorry.

Thanks. A lens hood is what I always wanted for an ultra zoom cam.

Some more questions:
1) Did you mean a round lens hood, not a flower type? 2) Does the original lens cap fit onto the UV filter? 3) What's the maximum capacity SDHC it supports? Thanks. Last edited by KamWeng; 31st May 2009 at 02:32 PM. |

The original lens hood that comes with the camera is flower shaped. To give you a better idea, here's a pic. Gotta erase the image. Don't think it's permitted 2) Does the original lens cap fit onto the UV filter? If you put the UV filter on the 46mm lens thread, the lens cap is affixed on the 55mm external lens hood barrel. If you are confused, look at the camera below, and you'll realise that there are two threads. Internal thread is right in front of the lens, which is 46mm. The external thread is at the end of the larger barrel encirlcing the lens at 55mm. The lens cap goes onto the 55mm. Gotta erase the image. Don't think it's permitted 3) What's the maximum capacity SDHC it supports? If I am not mistaken, 32GB SDHC per card. Hope that these info helps. Last edited by Wabbit; 2nd June 2009 at 12:28 AM. |

Oh no! I was hoping for a round tube type that permanently protect the lens, like the one that came with my aging S5000 (see pic). Am tempted for an upgrade.
![]() From your description, does it mean that if you forget to remove the lens cap and just power up your cam, the lens would extend and press onto the cap?! |

yes if u forget to remove the cap, the lens will sort of hit the cap... but not to worry, it will not hit it by brute force... when it feel the resistance, it will shut down by itself and the screen will show "please remove lens cap"
FZ28 cannot have this type of lens hood is becoz of its wide angle... at wide angle, the hood like this will cause vignette anyway the photo u show, doesn't really look like a lens hood, look more like a lens adapter... in fact, FZ28 also have a lens adapter like this... but like i mention earlier, u will see vignette when u didn't zoom at all.. the purpose of the lens adapter is to attach filter, tele convector, wide angle convertor etc.. lens adapter will not be provided.. have to purchase ourselve
