Ooooh....thanx for this thread,

My schedule changed from returning in June to returning in July 18- Aug 18. (no thanx to some ridiculous inflexibilities of a certain airline! )

Some of your have previously indicated that you'd like me to bring back some Rodinal (R) and Rodinal Special (RS).

here is the list:-

1. nokki** (1 R)
2. Bernar** (1 R, 1 RS)
3. Swea*1*0 (1 R)
4. leeja*0**8 (1 R)
5.

* 5 more bottle space left!!!!

I need you guys to confirm if the above was correct. Also do let me know if the changed schedule is still okay with you. I'm purchasing for myself here too and these will be in €. but will reflect the SG price later on (hoping that the price drops abit later, good for me and you guys too! )

So nearer to June, when i reflect the price in SGD, i'll also PM you guys the account number to transfer the amount too first.

Unfortunately, i am unable to bring in more than 10 bottles as i'm not doing this as a business. If there are others who really need Rodinal that desperately, he/she'll have to pray and hope that somebody from the above list pulls out.

Thanx heaps for your attention!

PL

psloong,

What you're doing is a great favour for the film loving community!

If it's at all possible, could you include me in a waiting list please? Any type of Rodinal, any quantity.

Thank you.

I'm going to London in June, so if anyone needs Rodinal Special before plsoong comes back I could help them buy from Silverprint. Their online shop lists Rodinal Special 125ml at 4 pounds 12p, not sure about in-store prices, so it's at least SG$9+ per bottle. This is not a photography-related trip, so at best I'll be able to buy what's available at Silverprint and bring back 1 or 2 items. First come, first served.

As an aside, can anyone else think of other things that might be cheaper in London or are unavailable here? Thanks.

Celebring, could you get me 1 bottle please? I'm sure there would be others who would want one as well, so I won't ask you to get two, but if no one else wants ... could I have two please?

As for items cheaper, I always thought that prices in the UK were higher in general, but Silverprint seems to have an exciting (to me) range of B&W films (some brands I didn't even knew existed), especially their specialist films. Will you be buying any film back?

After a bit of price comparison I find UK price (even with discount and without VAT) for Ilford films is similar to or higher than Singapore prices. Prices of other brands also seem higher than Singapore. I may buy some to use there, but rather not risk sending lots of film through airport scanners.

They have an online catalogue http://www.silverprint.co.uk/catalogue.asp

Any idea what items may be cheaper than Singapore? I assume large packs of powdered chemicals unavailable in Singapore should end up cheaper, provided I use it all before expiry. Anything else? Thanks.

I'm lusting over thr 'ROLLEI' branded films, especially the 'Retro', ATP as well as the ILFORD Ortho PLUS.

I suspect that the more tangible benefit of buying from Silverprint is being able to get hard or impossible to find items all under one roof (convenience/time saving factor), but please remember, I've stopped doing darkroom work for more than a decade and have only recently got back into it, so my 'gut' feel is every bit that of a DR newb.

What exactly is the difference, in layman's terms?

i did a search and besides the seemingly shorter devp times, the guys start talking about the chemistry and I get lost in the chem talk.

studional = rodinal special
its just another type of developer but different from rodinal... nothing to worry about since the results from it are good... its gives finer grain than rodinal i think...

Hi Celebring,

i was comparing the prices of Silverprint with the ones here in Germany.

I'm looking for some 2nd hand Enlargers by Durst esp those that has the colour wheel and is able to take 135, 6X6, and 6X7 negative cassettes. Do you know of any shops in UK / Germany that sells those ?

I'm afraid I'm not so familiar with London camera places or with darkroom equipment. Let me look through my magazines and see if I can find anything. If you manage to find an address that's within central London I can help investigate.

unfortunately, most of the time no, London is possibly the most expensive place in Europe to purchase chemicals and all that.

maybe for some special items when there's a discount in UK, it becomes cheaper...but after adding in the VAT and handling/shipping fees in pounds.......my heart pounds so fast that it stops

be careful if you are using it on 35mm film. be gentle when agitating. hmm... I can thinkg of at least one 'sensuous' comparison.

on 120 the edge effect is more pronounced. very very crisp looking shots.

I am one step closer to getting my Thornton's formula chemicals. yay!!!
