Thread: questions on bokeh

    Default questions on bokeh

    hi to all,

as i've been reading posts here i encounter some of you can judge good and bad bokeh.

As a newbie I only see bokeh as good bokeh and by using my dslr to take photos with bokeh, more often than not it impresses people (happy happy they think I'm so good eh) but mostly those who dont know about bokeh and stuff.

    how do you grade bokeh?

    thanks.

it depends on the picture, frankly

sometimes even the "undesirable bokeh" , i.e. donut bokeh on mirror lenses can be used to great effect

Aesthetic is a relative question. One man's meat may be another man's poison.

IMHO, what you have described is probably the effective use of DoF.

I also find the following link gave a very good and detailed explanation of the quality of bokeh.
