Will be leaving SG next coming Monday for a 2 weeks trip to Bangkok + Phuket and bringing the following equipments:
D700 (leaving the MB-D10 at home)
N16-35 f4 (for wide and landscape)
N35-70 f2.8 (for walkabout)
N85 f1.4 (for low light telephoto)
Extra CF cards
Tripod + Ballhead
Monopod + tilt head
Laptop + EXT HDD for backup
and also a compact camera for fun
I read through the 13 pages of posts as I'm looking forward to a 8D7N Thailand trip. Yeah 8D7N sounds like an overkill, but the flight and rooms are really cheap so I thought why not travel around Thailand, starting from Bangkok.
I'm planning to bring my 50D with
1. Canon 17-55mm f/2.8
2. Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8
3. Sigma 30mm f/1.4
and of course my set of GND & ND filters and a Tripod
Initially I was thinking of only bringing the 17-55 and the 30mm to travel light. Since it's a 8D7N trip, I foresee a fair bit of traveling around and I certainly don't want to miss out on the scenery.
Can any one please give some advice on my set-up on whether I should just stick with 2 lenses or go with all 3?
Canon EOS 6D | 16-35mm f/2.8L II USM | 24-70mm f/2.8L USM | 50mm f/1.4 HSM | 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM
Travel alone / photography trip:
Gitzo Tripod + RRS head
Every other stuff borrow or beg from my friend.. eg. 400mm f2.8, charger and etc..
Trying to keep my gear as light as possible without compromising too much.. well maybe taking a bit of advantage of my friend.
With my wife and family:
This is the best setup for me.
Setting up tripods.. compose.. wait for the right moment.. done.. (wife with a loooong face waiting.. and other family members already miles ahead of me).. :X
