    Guys,

Was just wondering, when you go travelling and say doing sight seeing, walking around the streets (be it day or night), say if i've my blackrapid, would you guys use it while walking down the streets? (am using 50D gripped w say a 24-105). Any precautions? As i don't use any neckstraps (still in box), its either the blackrapid or just the handstrap for me.

Don't ever try your method of carrying a camera in Italy, it WILL be stolen inside a few minutes. The thieves there are thick as flies and unbelievably brazen and quick.

It's not that scary la, but that said, it's always better to be safe than sorry. The horror stories that I've read on Clubsnap made me a lot more alert when I was there.

My last vacation (incidentally it was italy):
    - D40X
    - Tokina 12-24/4
    - Nikkor 60/2.8
    - Nikkor 16-85/3.5-5.6
    - SB800
    - SU800
    - GND
    - Camera bag
    - Tripod
    - Extra batt
    - 2x 4GB SD card
    - Thinkpad X41
    - Harddisk

    My next vacation (undecided):
    - F6
    - Nikkor 85/1.4
    - Nikkor 60/2.8
    - Tokina 12-24/4 (usable from ~18mm)
    - Spare CR123A batts
    - Camera bag
    - Rolls and rolls of Tri-X 400 + Ektar 100
    - Maybe SB800 + SU800 as well

    * Try to pack as light as possible
    * Digital cameras tend to travel well
    * Protect your equipment with a durable case
    * You’ll want to bring a light and sturdy tripod

Most people think of using a camera when traveling, and many photographers trace their obsession with photography to the moment they became intrigued by shots they had taken when traveling or on vacation.

for me it depends on where I travel to...

    Sometimes it's body plus 17-40mm plus 28-300mm plus 50mm plus 85mm

sometimes its just a body plus 28-300mm

sometimes it's just a leica compact

I'm thinking of the following for my upcoming trip to China and Russia,

    5d
    28-70 2.8L
70-200 4L IS (may not want to lug it)
    50 1.8
    Tamron 90

    Tripod
    GNDs
    NDs
    CPL
Shutter Release ( or not )

And most importantly, Plastic Rimmed Glasses to prevent freezing my Rims to my nose/forehead/wherever.

Still wondering what wideangle to get for scenery shots... zz..
1 Camera Body and a couple lenses.

For a couple of days in Kuching, Sarawak:

    D700
    28-70mm ƒ3.5-4.5
    8GB Ducati CF
...in one of those funny and ill-fitting neoprene cases...

    2 batteries (D700)
    charger
    SB-400 (juiced by Energizer L91)

No tripod this time around. I usually take one along when it's a road trip and I have wheels.

With modern cameras this smart, it's easier than ever to take bad pictures.

Wow everyone is so pro and bring many many lenses! But nobody mentioned the good old camera phone. One time I went Bangkok, brought my Oly E500 with kit lens, but forgot battery charger (><) so in the end most pictures were taken with my Sony Ericsson K710 or 770 or something like that. Zzzz.
