Guys,
I am tempted to get the Sigma 50mm 1.4. However I am not sure about the after sales service, especially since there have been quite a few issues with it being soft. Can anyone advise where the service centre is and do they charge if you have to send it in for recalibartion? Also as I travel a lot I am planning to shop for it overseas if it is cheaper. Anyone knows where is cheapest overseas? Do the warranty still apply here in Singapore? If you have the service centre contact number I would appreciate it. Cheers Lee |

no one can help you if its intrinsically soft. this means you got a bad copy. always always test the lens intensively before handing the money over.
but if you mean back/front focus issues, they will do same-day calibration for free. just make an appointment before going down. yes, they honor warranty from overseas. just make sure u have the warranty card + chop + receipt. i checked before previously liao. May i ask how does one check for such problems? Means i can't ask a non-photographer friend to purchase a lens for me overseas i suppose?

Just had my 50mm F1.4 EX DG HSM calibrated at Sigma. Working like a charm now, FOC of course. I think due to the shallow DOF for this lens, it would be advisable to have the lens calibrated to your camera body by Sigma. It's a little bit of hassle but the focusing is spot-on after calibration.

I just had my 50-150 serviced yesterday at Sigma. The service was excellent, the staff were really helpful and polite, and the whole process took only about two hours.
So, for all the bad things that people say about the quality of Sigma's lenses, I must say I'm very happy with my Sigma lenses (I own a few), and very happy with the after-sales service! Note: I don't have any business interests/own any shares with Sigma! ![]()

If you buy oversea, as long as the set comes with the International Warranty card (from Japan), they will honor the warranty. But you need your receipt from that oversea shop to proved that you bought it overseas. 1-year international warranty applies here. Cheers Last edited by Emerpus; 21st July 2009 at 04:24 PM. |
