Hot pixels are random, due to the electrical charges that is charging the CCD/CMOS, there's no worry because after cooling down, the next time you switch it on the pixel won't be there anymore.

Stuck pixels would be dead pixels, just send in to Nikon for remapping.

Did u turn on "Noise Reduction" (NR) when doing long exposure? If u did, and there are still hot pixels, then u could bring your cam down to Nikon for remapping. It takes only 5 minutes. Just request that they do it on the spot for u. BTW, It should be free.

Thanks

May I know where is Nikon Singapore service center and their telephone number?

I look at my nikon receipt and it only reflect the nikon address in Japan.

Im sure there is one stuck pixel.. got one pinkish pixel always in the same position regardless of shutter time..

den when i set to like 2 to 4 sec shutter speed, i wud be able to spot 8 hot pixels.

haben try the NR feature yet... will try it soon when i got the time.

Huh? Ur reciept has Japan's address? Does the warranty card have the Nikon Singapore's chop? If it doesn't, Nikon Singapore will charge you for the service, regardless it is still under the first year or not.

Hmm they'll charge a service charge I presume, but oh well, just bring it down and get it done once and for all

The last time I went down to the Nikon Service Center to remap a very hot pixel, they quoted my S$100 out of warranty!

wah that is really expensive juz for the remapping. since they juz need to run some simple software dats all ......

tried calling them but their line seems to be engaged.. if really $100 den i wud really consider using the DIY mapping software liao...

The last time I went for remapping, they didn't check nor ask for my warranty card. They just do it and returned to me on the spot. Less then 5 minutes.

You could try persuading them to do it for free, claiming that u had the hot pixel long ago, just that you didn't know what it was until now.

Alternatively it's just a click click on the PS s/w to get the pixel 'mapped'

Based on the camera's serial number they can track how long the camera has been out in the market, and which batch it was.

Chances very slim.

Wow, that's pretty steep.

Last time when I brought my F90x SLR for a (paid-for) service, they responged my FA free of charge. I'm wondering if they will do simple services free of charge as a courtesy if you've already paid for some other services at the same time.

To test this theory, you can piggy-back your CP with someone who is bringing his/her gears for service.

Finally i took up the courage to do the remapping myself with the online software!

And the stuck pixel is indeed gone !!

and i also couldnt find any visible hot pixels anymore (unlike previously) with an 8sec shutter speed.
