i don't know if it can be turned off, but a little bit of black tape should do the trick.

Yes, can switch off, using Custom Function 05

Why switch off? The light may be good to attract people's attention, especially little kids?

Yeah but in low light condition it sometime blind my subjects. Anyway Do not know if just me but I find the D60 Auto Focus is kinda not as responsive. I am using a 70-200mm f2.8L lens. Or is my expectations too high? Or could it be I am used to my EOS 3 AF speed? Anyway of improving this?

Try to snap on a 420/550EX or a ST-E2, the red AF assist light works even in total darkness.

as wat oeyvind mentioned, it'll b much more useful 2 use the af assist light on the external speedlight. D60 AF is really not very responsive...

From an EOS 3 to a D60?

EOS 3 has (IIRC) 7 cross sensors out of 45 and the centre one can do cross sensor focus at f4, and the camera can still AF at f8. It's a giant step backwards, from 3 to D60.

Sell the D60. 1D prices have reached US $2450 new (Dell). Second hand should be below S$4k before June next year - start saving.
