What lenses are you using, and how do you rate them? It's quite strange, seems nobody else here uses Konica SLR (I saw your posting some time ago and you mentioned you have a T3) although several guys shoot a Hexar. |

From what I know of Hexanon glass, they are generally excellent... especially in the 1960s they were considered superior I believe. Maybe some Hexanon glass shooters can fill us in on more information... until I get mine, I don't have an answer :-) |

Well Hexanon lenses are Konica mount, of course :-) Konica made these lenses for their SLRs, and their rangefinders also have Hexanon glass but I'm not sure if the mounts are the same. Possibly. Maybe some Hexar users can advise us on that. I bought most of my cameras on ebay. You run the risk of getting a dud but much bargain can be found there. |

Just to add... I think there is a T-to-Konica mount adapter out there, so if you want to shoot with T-mount lenses, it should be possible. But if you want mount a Hexanon lens onto another body, even via adapters, it may not be advisable. Hexanon lenses have a short flange-film plane register so that means they will not be able to focus to infinity if mounted with an adapter that does not have a corrective optical element.
I can't seem to find more information on what the naming of the Konica mount. Is it simply called Konica mount? Does pre-Autoreflex cameras use the same mount, such as the Konica F? Maybe someone can share with us :-) |

Just thought I'll update a little. Seems that the Konica mount for Autoreflex series of cameras (including TC-X although it doesn't have "autoreflex" in its name) is commonly called "K/AR mount".
My Konica came in the mail yesterday. I'm now an official Konican ;-) |

Note that the price I paid for the Konica kit is slightly higher than the average ending price on ebay. I went all out and bid for it so I can combine shipping with another camera I purchase from the same seller. It seems that on average the ending price for such a combination or with a Hexanon 50/1.4 is about USD 35. |

I saw a Konica TC-X camera with the default Hexanon f/1.8 lens selling at a camera shop near my place for $150 with a HAZE filter (presumably a crap, unknown brand). I assume the camera is 2nd hand but looks to be in very good condition. Was wondering if it's worth buying if it's in good working condition (no yellowish lens, mould etc).

I dug out my dad's old Autoreflex TC with hexanon 40mm f1.8 glass.
The condition of it is a little dusty but otherwise in working condition. My main concern is the lens. There are specs all over the back and front lens glass pieces. How do I go about cleaning these up. I have a blower, some lens solution, cotton buds and what looks like a spectacle cloth. EDIT: There's also a spec of dirt in the piece of glass above the mirror (ooh I remembered. It's called a pentaprism). I don't think it can be cleaned by conventional means. Can anyone give me some advice on where to send it for servicing (good and preferably cheap)? Last edited by calebk; 29th July 2006 at 05:41 PM. |
