Default An honest poem I wrote about sex, drugs & religion

I WAS DAMN BORED. and i read about educators and parents(isn't that all the people young people can turn to?) being the weak link in sexuality education so I wrote a poem about what I would tell my son when he becomes a lil older.

    Let Daddy tell you,
    what the media won't,
    So why don't you listen,
    with those headphones off?

    You were ten
but had the lust worthy of men,
    for what is untouchable
    is desirable.

Son I was your age once,
    and so I understand
    Masturbation is taboo,
    but it's only natural
    As what happens in nature,
happens to us regardless of nurture

    Just so you know,
the first girl to give you a handjob,
with your hand firmly against the knob,
is probably not the one you should marry!

And as for the forbidden fruit,
the taste won't be as sweet,
whether is it before or after marriage,
For what is perfection without practice?

    I know you hate it,
institutions telling you what is common sense
    but please do not spit,
on this advice I'm about to dispense

It's for our own good, they say,
but where's our sense of freedom,
if it's only the bland leading the bland?

    Rebel,
    dabble with pot,
    perhaps the occasional cigarette,

But do not let these nefarious substances,
    control your life,
    For then they will become,
the very government you seek to avoid

    We only live life once,
so die doing something that makes you bounce.

Finally note that Daddy is a,
    heathen, infidel, atheist,
but did not choose to make you like me.

    Religion is something someone chooses,
    when he is comfortable,
and not at an age where you also believe in
Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy.

    So make that choice wisely,
for as many friends you will gain,
as many friends you will lose too.

    Just remember that religions forgotten,
will become fables for the next generation.

    There! The three taboos,
    defused but not confused.
    I hope you appreciate
    this information I shared.

Not such a bad idea ... having someone make a rap to it (might reach more out there).

It is very nice to see, in a world of people that simply don't care or know; someone that does care to the depth that you do germ_boi.

I trust that all children you have grow up with such understandings

Continue to be the person that you are
Time, is an effortless construction :)

i think the best is to expose them to all sides.... religious and non-religious. let them decide on their own. thing is, a lot of people are only fed with the same kind of propaganda for years.

as parents, i think it's best to give kids the option and exposure to make their own decision. good one by TS.

    great poem from TS..
    i am proud of you!
it's better to throw all these theory into kids nowadays,
as they are really GROWING very fast, thanks to the exposure of media..
they are now able to expose to drug, sex, etc in very young age!
however, it is stil up to them in choosing their own future, you can only lead them or help them along the way.. kids nowadays.. haiz..
i feel weird to see those VERY young couple in their school uniform, cuddling, kissing and touching each other in the public..
i was once encounter a kid in his school uniform lighting a cigarette, and of course i tell him off... i dare to do so becos he is alone and i am with my other friends!
The thing that i fear the most, is that my pictures will bore you to death...

    from a 21yr old, here's what I feel.

I am increasingly frustrated by life in Singapore itself. I dropped out of ocs recently because I didn't see the need to serve my country, and risk being injured while at the same time, being under a system that doesn't give me f-ck about me, regardless of whether i was an OCT or PTE.

Also, I hate it how the government uses religion as some sort of moral compass for us to follow, to keep the social fabric. Singapore could be a by and large a conservative society, but it is also people here refuses to find out more about the touchy topics. It's a well known fact in scientific circles that homosexuality happens in 10% of males and 6% of females, and it's completely natural for them to feel this way, and gays and lesbians don't do this just to piss off Jesus or Allah. Just like how 10% of the population are left-handed, they're just a statistical difference.

I feel that if such information are released in the mainstream media, fundamentalists would jump on it, saying it neutralizes or promotes gay-ism, but in fact, no one can choose to be gay(unless he's damn emo la), and no one really wishes to be that different, since most humans prefer to conform.

Also, sexuality education is so mild, it's like these educators are hiding behind their own veil, not wanting to acknowledge the fact that pornography is so rampant. back in my time, the first time I saw such stuff was at 10years old. My classmate brought a korean magazine to school, haha.

All these frustrations, but nothing much one can do in Singapore, haha.

    Dear germ_boi,

It is very sad to read what you had written. You are one of the very few to be selected to attend OCS and you choose not to continue.

I believe that you had indicated earlier that you wish to attend OCS.

I can only think of the few reasons why ppl cannot join OCS. Anybody wish to contribute?.

    1.
    2.
    3.
    4.

I had taken to do OCS as an honour.

I do not deny that there are bad hats even in OCS.. but this is norm in any society. There is no prefect system nor a system that please everyone.

All religion teaches you to be good less those 'so call' religion.

Those who do not have anything.. or those who do not know what 'value' to follow can always tap on one of the religions and understand what the value they are. He or she can choose not to do.

We are still a conservative society... again what you think may not be what other think.

to serve your best or not to serve during army is a choice to every individual.
some can be the best while others only want to do the bare minimum.

even for ppl who ooc, still learn something like drown proofing and better water confidence level for my case...

no doubt if you complete some shitty vocation, you will feel proud during that moment but at the end of the day, the amount of pride only last you 2 years of your time and nothing more except just fond memories...

Proud of shitty vocation and you felt proud during that moment?

It is all in the mindset. Again individual.

To me it is not two years. It lasts forever.

I still value the sword that was given to me.
