Default Advice needed

Love the tone of IR photo so went to get myself a Cokin IR filter. Followed the guide in the sticky thread to set the CWB in my camera (Canon 40D), and got the photo below:

The IR photos that I have seen have white leaves, however mine still retain the green in the leaves.
What could have gone wrong?

Many thanks for your advice in advance.

I shot an image of green leaves (with IR filter on) under AWB, and used this image (leaves appear red) for CWB setting. Then I photographed the above image (with the IR filter on)under the newly set CWB.

Many thanks.

Or do I need to remove the protection filter (UV filter) in front of the lens before attempting IR photography? I shall give a try now.

Hi,

I am not familiar with the Cokin IR filter only the Hoya one.

Generally the idea is to put the filter on, have in "P"mode (bump up the ISO to say 400 or a bit higher),

Zoom out and take a shot of grass in front of you (bright day is needed).

This will be your white ballance reference.

Others will have various methods and I am shure they will reply.

There is a sticky about it but I don't remember if the 40D was covered

From your photo, you are half way there though. Do you know how to colour channel swap

Have a good read through the sticky's .... look forward to more from you.

Cheers

Thanks, I shall PM them to seek for advice and "Mi Ji"
By the way the Cokin IR filter that I have is P007 [Infrared (89B)]. Not sure if it is different from the P009.

OH really? Bad. Did the blue red pixel thingy go away after awhile or they just stay (permanent)? You made me worry about continuing my IR photography this weekend...
