Hi all,
I have a 5700 and i wanted to attach a low end Metz flash head (cannot remember wat model) to the hotshoe. However, i cannot seem to fire off the flash regardless of what setting i use...from manual to auto....I just wanted to use it in manual mode using the flash setting. can anyone advice if 5700 is compatible with 3rd party flash without E-TTL function. thanks and regards |

Urm 5700 has only psuedo-TTL, it's not real TTL. The settings will need to be set manually on the flash. The camera can't send settings to the flash
![]() For Metz, what happens is that you need to go to the menu, then under flash, set the option to "Int & Ext Active". Then turn on the flash using the flash button by the left hand side. Note that flash will pop-up regardless whether a Nikon or Metz flash is used. For metz, the pop-up flash will/might hit against the bottom of the metz flash when popping up. And using the Metz3-1 from personal experience is that the camera's flash and Metz will fire off together, I do not encounter this problem with the SB-80DX though. I heard new Metz series achieve the same results too? |

Nikon uses only TTL, D-TTL & i-TTL. 5700 can utilise TTL or A mode.
E-TTL is for Canon only. Some flash are made for Nikon or Canon specifically. Do check if you got the right flash as some flash will higher voltage can fry your cam's electronics. ![]() |
