Thinking of buying this lens. Is it true that during AF, a 'tit' sound can be heard?
Please enlighten me here cheers ![]() |

Is your 'tit' sound coming from your camera instead when it focus locks? AFAIK, lenses do not emit any digital sounds.

There's a whirling sound when it focus. But certainly not a "Tit". As Snoweagle mentioned, sounds like an electronic alert to me, which is commonly in most dSLRs when a subject is in focus.

there will b sound during auto focusing...but i dun find it irritating....i wun say is very loud (unless u really compare wif USM lens)..is pretty very acceptable to me... mine is fast n works well during low lighting environment.... for a hobbist....i love it a lot!!!
personally i also find tat the front n rear focusing issue for brand new tamron is not really an issue le....while trying at OP before purchasing...i requested for 3 sets and all 3 sets are almost equally sharp after testin on test chart...... most importantly...brand new at OP cost $620 without filter...and it comes wif 3 yrs warranty...more worth it than buying 2nd hand which cost like..$500 wif perhaps...6 mths, 3 mths or even no warranty.... cheers! |

Sounds from lens autofocusing will be more audible unless u have USM or HSM for example. IMO Tamron's AF motor is pretty silent even without the use of those sonic motors i mentioned. Wait til u hear how audible my Sigma 70-300 AFs, u'll appreciate Tamron's more.

yes its true. got a bit of sound. unless u r doing detective works or shooting in ultra-quiet environment, i dun think u can ever find any lens that does not make any sound at all. if so, perhaps a compact camera may suit u better?
as all the others have mentioned, the motor sound from this lens is really almost nothing. ur camera's "tiii diiii" focus-lock sound will be even louder than the motor sound.

True, as said earlier, my Sigma 70-300's motor is quite noisy. But ultimately it still works for me.

It should be either the gear coupler (non motor ver) is doing its job or else could be it's reached the end of focus range (infinite or below the MFD) and the focus ring had hit the end stopper. Nothing major... just there is no super magic lens that can auto focus on "anything".
