I got my S5000 from MS Color last weekend at $799 /w GST. So far the best offer in Singapore. If you are getting that model, then this is the best place to get, no need to compare any further, as I've already scan through almost all camera shops.

Hope it helps to make up your decision

The picture quality is awesome...managed to print out in 4R - 8R and they look great.

Sometimes the night shots produce nosiy pictures, but if you know how to control and tune the camera(i.e. by selecting the correct aperture rating), you can achieve almost the same good quality.

In overall, a good picture depends on Photographer skills, and not 100% on the camera itself.

i do agreed on wat u say.
but then again, i had seen how a camera's noise destroyed mana pictures and there was no way to rectified the problem..... thus i rather start with something that people got good rave about.

anyway was thinking if any fellow c/snappers already got the cam? maybe can share some pics to see their qualities

I think it's not noise nor heavy compression. It's caused by the not so good compression algorithm - jpeg artifact.

For noise, Panasonic's FZ1 (maybe FZ2? FZ10?) is even worst. Its ISO100 produces more noise than S5000's ISO200.

For compression, Olympus' HQ setting is heavier, but without the artifacts.

Anyway, for 4R and slightly larger, S5000 has absolutely no problem!

XD card belong to the third generation of flash mem i think, should be lar.
its supposed to be more stable, unlike some compact flash which experiences dataloss.
only bad pt is XD very ex.. but the speed is fast.

I've noticed that many wide angle pics taken by the S5000, the top right end corner is always darker then the rest of the image. Is this always true?

yea.. quite true.. but i use my cam for pics in com only lar, seldom print unless got nice photos, like abt 60 photos developed once a mth or sth..
so those dark edges get cropped away.

Default xD challanged

Will the Olympus xD card work in the S5000. And why in the world is a 16Meg card standard in a 6 meg-a-pixel camera?

I just received my S5000 three days ago. Paid US $379.
This is my third Fuji Digital. Gave the first one (can't remember which model)to my daughter, bought a F601 last September.
I just couldn't get used to the shape of the 601. Saw the S5000 on Home Shopping Network, and now she's mine.

Greetings everyone, I'm interested in getting the S5000. I've check with CP, Alan and MS... this is the quote I've got from them. All comes in standard packaging.

1) CP: $690 w GST
2) Alan: $603.75 w GST
3) MS: $599 w GST (currently no stock)

Are there any other places that I can get better offers? Or should I wait for the PC show which is just 3 days away from now?
